Eric Johnston of the Southeast Law Institute provided some analysis of an Alabama Supreme Court ruling directing probate judges to no longer issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples in the state until there is a ruling from the U.S. Supreme Court on the definition of marriage. Craig James, Assistant to the President for the Family Research Council, visited the Faith Radio/Meeting House broadcast center at NRB 2015 to discuss an employment situation, in which, as he relates, he was terminated just hours after his employer found out about comments he made supporting traditional marriage in a debate while James was running for the U.S. Senate. Aaron & Melissa Klein, the owners of Sweet Cakes by Melissa, an Oregon bakery that chose not to provide a cake for a same-sex wedding ceremony, visited the Faith Radio/Meeting House booth at NRB 2015. They discussed the action taken against them, which has resulted in the possibility of heavy fines to be levied against them.
