God's entrance into this world...and our lives...is not how one would expect a sovereign ruler to introduce himself. But our God does things in very unlikely ways, amen?

Jesus questions the scribes. He wants them...and us...to know what we believe. We are to have a high view of Christ. He also shows a contrast between those who exalt themselves and one who gives everything to the kingdom. So we are to 1) Exalt Christ in our doctrine, and 2) Exalt Christ in our walk.

A lawyer asked Jesus which commandment is the greatest of them all. Once again, Jesus gave an unexpected answer---to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength; and to love your neighbor as yourself. I rushed through this sermon, but let Jesus' words bring you truth.

The Sadducees were the next "wave" to attack Jesus in an attempt to trip him up. But they too failed. They didn't believe in the resurrection. This sermon talks about the bodily resurrection and that there is, in fact, right and wrong.

The Pharisees and Herodians came to trap Jesus with a question on taxes. But Jesus gave an answer that caused them to marvel. Whose image is imprinted on you? And whose inscription is on your heart?

Jesus tells this parable which reveals the sins of the religious leaders of Israel. Needless to say, they didn't like it very much. But it also has application for us today.

The priests, scribes and elders asked Jesus from where His authority comes. He asked them a question which they were not willing to answer. Do you know who is YOUR authority? If your supreme and ultimate authority is not God, then it is Satan. Choose today under whose authority you exist.
