Summary

Patti Hintze and Carleen Crespo sing "Stabat Mater" during the evening Good Friday service at Crusader Lutheran Chuch, Rockville, MD, on April 2, 2010. John Alves accompanies on organ. The Latin text is from a 13th century meditation on the suffering of Mary - Jesus Christ's mother - during His crucifixion. The music was composed in 1736 by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi. Original Latin: "Stabat mater dolorosa, juxta Crucem lacrimosa, dum pendebat Filius." English translation: "The mother stood in anguish weeping, next to the cross, while the Son hung."
