Summary

This Psalm was written by David when Nathan had come to him after committing adultery with Bathsheba and murdering her husband Uriah. Psalm 51:17 "The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; A broken and a contrite heart, O God, Thou wilt not despise" Brokenness is the appropriate response to God. Brokenness, in God eyes, is to be broken, crushed, and torn in spirit over sin. True brokenness is a tool by which God brings sinners back into His loving arms
