Summary

Matthew 5:38-40 Abuse, slander, murder,and theft were as much as an issue during the time of Moses and Jesus as they are now. Jesus in his great Sermon on the Mount, asks us not to seek revenge as people were doing under the Pharisees. Nor does Jesus tell that justice shouldn't happen through the courts. What Jesus implies is that we should have hearts devoted towards forgiveness and grace, even towards those who are evil.
